about us
A space for community, connection and belonging.
Welcome to Vaiola, where a passion for exceptional coffee meets the warmth of community. Nestled in the heart of Tarragindi’s The Green, Vaiola is a haven for coffee enthusiasts and food lovers alike. From owner’s Emily & Soane, Vaiola is the big sister to Umu Kitchen, which is located just around the corner on Denham Terrace.
Having opened our doors in October 2023, we are proud to provide a seasonal menu of the freshest produce, crafted with passion by our owner & head chef, Soane.
Soane’s Tongan heritage has taught him the value of culture and community – something he strives to represent through his cooking. Growing up in Tonga, Soane learnt to cook through Umu – a traditional method of cookery that involves digging a hole in the ground, burning rocks and cooking with the coals. This has taught him simplicity and a great appreciation for what the earth and nature has provided for us. Having dipped his toes into almost every other cuisine there is through his cooking journey, Soane simply aims to inspire and provide a menu that is fresh, exciting and able to be shared with loved ones.
On a Friday and Saturday afternoon, the space transforms into a clubhouse for the Tarragindi Bowls Club, offering homemade pizzas, hearty meals, cocktails, beer on tap + a beautiful selection of wines.
Emily and Soane have always believed that Vaiola is more than just coffee. We are a welcoming community space where friends, families and individuals come together to savour moments of connection. Our cozy ambience and friendly staff create an inviting atmosphere, making Vaiola the perfect place to unwind, catch up for a casual lunch or dinner, get through a bit of work, or engage in lively conversations.
Whether you are a coffee connoisseur seeking the perfect brew, or a food enthusiast craving delightful flavours, we invite you to share in the Vaiola community. Join us in celebrating the simple joys of life, one sip and one bite at a time.
